Thursday, July 31

Rachel took a day off being a mum and visited me. Its the first time we'd hung out together, just the two of us in two years. We were *very* excited, throwing words at each other at the fastest speed possible, sharing ideas, tales and joys.

We sat on gravel hill discussing Bob and Gino. It was a zen moment of illumination, and magic struck as it always does when its just us two. We spoke about my ideas for shirts and a business, and smoked spliffs under the vintage sun of Melbourne.

Making our way back to her house while eating lollypops and walking in the park was also fun. Louis set up a surprise treasure hunt for us and gave Rachel her late birthday present which was a beautifully made loveberry lamp. He then invited us to take part in an exercise of listing something we CAN do within two weeks and wrapping what we write in special paper with special string. Inside the wrapper there is also candy which we will get in two weeks once we have done the CAN.

Jesse came over the next morning, we rode Steve's go-karts out to the nearby field and played impromptu rubbish cricket and baseball. Jesse picked a fight with the swingset and I think the swingset won, I joined in and also ended up on my ass. Ripley slept. She's a cutie, every week I see her she has more personality and more recognition of people around her. I love feeling more comfortable around her every time we meet.

Finally getting home was hilarious, we missed the last two late buses and on the second trip to the bus stop the the tiny red car stalled. We pushed it and tried our best but nothing would start it. But what happened next was impressive.

Louis started humping the car from the inside, while Jesse fondled the dashboard 'Do you like that bay, come on, don't freeze up on me now' he said, Louis continued 'Come on! You can do it baby! No don't wake up your mother!' so on, until they were literally fucking the car from the inside. I jumped up and down in the back seat with excitement not expecting anything to really happen, but the boys continued, 'come on! you..can.. get over this! feel that shit! feel it! unggh!' and suddenly.. VROOOOOOM!, the car which had refused to start for an hour shook into power! It was incredible! I laughed so hard. You really had to be there. But the boys were proud.

'Don't touch me' said Jesse as he looked out the window. 'I need a cigarrette' mentioned Louis. I sat in the back in glee. All the car needed was a little hard loving, she acted coy, but they boys refused to stop, until she was over the edge and satisfied. There's a moral in there people!

OH MY GOD! Quitting my job is the best thing I eve did! It's like my life is mine again! It's a sunny day and im listening to The Baja Marimba Band, drinking a fresh coke from a glass bottle wearing my new 'Who is the MAN?' t shirt and black hoodie. I went out photographing yesteday, Rachel is coming over, we're going to smoke a joint and walk in the park. Im making shirts, and a zine! I can hear my brain think, I don't have a headache, my eyes are no longer blurry.  I made cookies. I AM ALIVE!

My Day In Pictures

(Band: Nunchukka Superfly - A+)

Saturday, July 26

Today im sick, im tired, my head aches and so does my nose. I have this throbbing feeling on my forehead.. and I am SUPER EXCITED ABOUT LIFE.

Quit my job - Check
Have a Manifesto - Check
Savings - Check
New Screenprinting Course - Check

It's all looking good. Interestingly enough yesterday was the 'day out of time' and beginning of the new year in the 13 moon Mayan calendar. Which coincided perfectly with my shedding of my old work life, and embracing of my new creative life.

We went to a hippyfest which was celebrating this auspicious date to see ifly perform, it was Ripleys first gig! She was amazing, she woke up just in time for ifly (Andrew's band, he's our soul brother and part of the tribe). She opoened her big black alien eyes and looked around in awe, pulling faces and smiles, gesturing at unseen interstellar beings most likely. I rubbed her face as Andrew held her and she smiles the most genuine, precious and pure smile I have ever seen. I melted with affection for her.

I know it's a cliche to fawn over a baby, but I've never met anyone this young before, and this isn't just anyone! She's my new friend, clan member, goddaughter, niece, sister, accomplice, compadre etc! We're going to have so much fun!

So enough about Ripley (awwww Ripley!) and onto the rest. the night was warm and beautiful, Louis and I shared lucid thoughts of evolution, while sitting on oversized beanbags as children ran and drew and played. Music was honest and beautiful, lullabies and singalongs about spirit and fields, birds, trees. Piano was played, acoustics resonated. It was really quite nice and not as cringeworthy as I expected.

We came home to Steve who has been getting seriously into gaming. Him and Lily recently bought an Xbox 360 and big telly, so he's become a junkie. We stayed up playing a wonderfully well written metapsychic adventure game called Psychonauts. (You can watch an excellent review on this game at Zero Punctuation by Yahtzee Crosshaw).

I have a cold tho, i passed out and woke up with all my clothes on, covered in sweat while a rat gnawed on a novelty size watermelon lip smacker inside my amplifier, so i chased it into megans room and passed out again.
Remember this:
Dont overthink
Dont assume peoples feelings
You are not responsible for other peoples feelings
You dont need to have a reason for how you feel
You are humand and shouldn't feel guilty for feeling any way or another.
Be assertive
Don't take life too seriously
Any music with the right spirit is good music.

Saturday, July 12

Its been a busy three days and I want to write down what has happened to recollect and integrate.

Steve showed up and he has gotten a job at a cattery! His dream job! He looks after cats in the morning and talks about video games with the girl that works there, has a four hour break, then goes back to pat cats and read a book, and its cash in hand. He is so happy, and we for him. He also brought over some chocolate coffee beans, chocolate almonds, nicaraguan coffee, a coffee maker, three playstation games and a controller. He's amazing! We made beef fajitas had a fire and played games. The next day I went into the city to get tickets for the Yahtzee talk but I was too late, so I dropped by the church, prayed for clarity, focus, for my friends and my family and felt much better for it. Regardless of what anyone may say, being in a gigantic church creates a feeling of awe and peace which is conductive to connecting with a perceived higher power, even if it is your own, so going to church works for that reason. I walked smiling at the sun and ran into Moscow and Alistair busking, we chatted, I sat and tapped and invited Moscow for dinner on Sunday, I love him. I came back and cleared the backyard, Steve and I played Tekken, I got my ass kicked and he went home with Lilly. Like clockwork Jesse called up, he came over and we jammed on Black Lips songs, I've been playing lots of guitar all weekend and enjoying it! I remembered that when I can get melodies out of a guitar I become addicted to it, I will be playing much more often. We went for food and bitched about Taqui, then came back to fix the boombox while listening to Slayer. We couldn't fix it, tho we did pull it apart and that was fun. The next day Jesse woke me up by pouring water on my head, we had coffee and cleaned the house, he washed dishes and mopped floors (Jesse rules) I cleaned up, vacuumed and tidied, by the end the house was schmick. Ghanas cat freaked out a bit, her name is Vani, we got her to kill rats but she's too gentle for that, she's a sweetie tho, and she' staying with us because Ghana is in hospital for some undisclosed reason. I think he's freaking out with al his psychic issues (he's been having visions, after I talked to him I came out chilled to the bone, there's something heavy going on around there). Then I went to print off things for my zine at Slingshot, where I will be voluteering on a screenprinting co op, and then to see Steve and Lilly at the Cafe, he didnt wanna come out. I met with Jesse, we caught a bus to Jet and Louis, got some Bourbon and Coke (with much difficulty as we were 20 cents short) and played cards while listening to cheesy hits all night. We laughed a lot! Jesse and I stayed up watching Tom Gree and freestyle battles on YouTube. Now I'm home, the house is clean, Gino's has been spruced up, Megs is due soon. Everything is done. Time to relax, then start working on my own stuff.

Man! My God how good are the Black Lips?! Get into this band now dammit. They have this brash teenage party boy sound, twangy guitars and crackles and hiss, screaming singalongs and howling, they are everything a good band should be. A mess of wonderful sound with intricate energies layered upon each other all sung by dudes having a party and just going absolutely nuts. Oh they are a band I want to see live. They're the sort of band that makes me smile while I'm in my way to work in the morning as I visualize the messy garage of filth where they must have written half their songs,. It makes me want to shake the person next to me and say "NO! Listen to THIS". The most amazing thing is they sound like one of the old trash 60's rock bands, yet they sound SO fresh at the same time. It's like Rock and Roll is real again. God bless them.

GET INTO THE BLACK LIPS NOW.

Friday, July 4

Steve drunk too much and it mixed with his medication on the night he did his unsexy strip show (an incredible drunken show, a pinnacle of his career, I was in pain from laughing), well it was a bad mix, he went crazy, had a really bad three day trip and has subsequently quit alcohol.

This is big news considering I have never known him to go for longer than an hour without alcohol. Yet here we are four days later and he hasn't had a drop.

Instead we've been playing Dragon Quest 8 (amazing game), listening to the Black Lips and playing soccer. We're both broke so we're living off noodles and bread. Or we would be rather, had the rats not stolen all of our bread! A whole loaf! It's us or them now!

Last night they stole our parmesan cheese so I followed the parmesan trail to the giant hole they've bitten through our floor.

This.is.war.

Ratwar.

I have gone out and bought three rat traps, read up on rat psychology, we're getting rid of their food supply, I've borrowed a cat, downloaded war music which I will pump into their rathole... Game over ratties, game over.
