"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent resistance inevitable" - JFK

I've seen enough videos now of children clutching their dead mummies while their own guts are spilled out onto the pavement to make up my mind.

Obama has one week to denounce Israeli actions. If he does not, regardless of his amazing book, his good looks, and his basketball skills. Regardless, he will become my sworn enemy. He will show himself for the coward and sell out that we all hoped he was not.

So far over 1000 Palestinians are dead. Two UN Schools have been bombed by Israel. The U.N, Red Cross, Amnesty International, etc have all denounced Israel as committing war crimes. Norwegian doctors have confirmed Ambulances are being deliberately targetted by Israeli forces. In contrast, 20 Israeli Soldiers have died in the conflict. 4 from friendly fire.

If Obama, who represents 'Hope' doesn't speak out... I will be against him.

I will be against him with every fibre of my being. I will hate him, and see him as a coward, a liar, and as an accomplice to untold suffering and the destruction of humanity and what it represents on earth..

"All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing"

You have one week Obama.

From Boing Boing comments -

'There can be no excuse for bombing mosques and schools. If you saw a gunman firing at you from near a school, would you destroy it with a rocket, knowing you would kill dozens of children? What kind of monsters make the choice to bomb the school?'

'America's unwavering military and economic support of the Shah of Iran from 1953 to 1979 is what radicalized Iran and sparked the Iranian Revolution.

America's unwavering military and economic support of Saddam Hussein from 1982-1990 is what armed a madman with thousands of tons of WMD's.

America's unwavering support of Israel is what inspired Muhammed Atta to attack the US after the Israeli military committed the Qana Massacre in Lebanon, 1996.

America cannot afford another Shah of Iran, another Saddam Hussein, or another Israeli massacre.

The UN, the Red Cross, Amnesty International, and other groups have condemned Israels current bombardment and invasion of Gaza to be violations of internation laws, violations of human rights, and potential war crimes.

And it wouldn't be the first time that blind, unquestioning, support of a militant power in the middle east ended up biting us in the ass.'

'it is clear that Israel (and their backers) don't want peace, because if they did then Israel would not have broken the ceasefire on November 4th, (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/nov/05/israelandthepalestinians-egypt) prompting Hamas to begin Quassam rocket attacks the next day.'

It's not just the numbers. It's the hypocrisy, the injustice.. and the western SILENCE.

"Israel is the self described Jewish state, but then Apartheid South Africa were convinced they represented white people world wide against the scourge of bloodthirsty blacks and communists.

In a similar way the Israeli army aren't oppressing and killing Palestinians because Jewish soldiers are bloodthirsty killers any more than South Africa's multiple wars against its black neighbours showed there was anything inherently violent about white people, those of Dutch extraction or those who like barbecues a lot.

The problem for Israel is that its a colonial state whose existence is predicated on the dispossession and expulsion of the people already living there - its a source of huge moral confusion for Israelis, after all if ethnically cleansing Palestinians and taking their land is bad now why wasn't it bad when Israel was founded? Its impossible for them to pull back from these constant punishment attacks and the settlements on the west bank without questioning the very nature of the state. So its easier for them to dismiss the criticism from around the world as being motivated by racism and bigotry or in a chilling echo of apartheid that people outside Israel just dont understand how brutish the Arabs are.

White South Africans eventually got over it (with much pressure), we can only hope that Israelis do too."
